Q; How long does a quote take?
A; Mark does all our quoting outside his standard business hours. They generally take about 30 minutes to measure and discuss on site. We book in quotes as they're requested, usually of an afternoon (where possible) or a Saturday. Quotes are then prepared and returned in the order they have been measured. They can take anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks to prepare and return. Many factors play into this, sometimes we need to wait for prices back from other trades or suppliers. Mark also puts a lot of time and effort into making sure nothing is missed and everything is priced accurately. Larger projects take longer to quote. Mark works tirelessly to ensure that we get them back to you as quickly as we can. Please feel free to call Mel, on 0429 345 547 anytime if you have any questions.
Q; When should we get a quote?
A; It depends on what you're having done. Its always a good idea to do some research first, know what to expect with your quote. Have some idea what the project should cost. If you're in doubt, please feel comfortable to ask.
Q; Should we get more than 1 quote.
A; Sure. It gives you some comparison and that's important. However, always be aware that all quotes will offer something slightly different, sometimes drastically different and that's not limited to price. Make sure you understand what the physical differences are. A more expensive quote may include things that a cheaper quote hasn't. From the customer feedback we get, our quotes are typically in the middle. We offer comprehensive quotes to ensure we don't need to add to the price after starting. It's important to find a builder you feel good about and be honest with them.
Q; Can you give me a ballpark figure?
A; No. Ballpark figures are often inaccurate. Sometimes wildly inaccurate. We feel it would be irresponsible of us to give you a price that isn't based on measurements and facts.
Q; Do you do cashies?
A; No. We still have to pay the same expenses as a business and this would not only be morally wrong, it would be against the law. We hope customers can appreciate that we value your business and will always stay above board.
Q; What if i don't want it to go through council.
A; If it should go through council, we have a responsibility to make sure things are done properly. This is both to protect you, and us. We value your property and your custom. It would be irresponsible of us not to abide by the laws put in place.
Q; Mates rates?
A; If you don't know us, here's the good news, everyone is on mates rates. Projects cost what they cost. We make every effort to keep our prices as fair and competitive as possible. We truly believe that we offer a comprehensive service. Mark has extensive experience with extensions and renovations. He understands, and prepares for the common considerations that - in our experience, some other quotes don't. We really try not to change the price after starting, we feel its unfair to the customer but people are always welcome to ask for changes and we are happy to accommodate that.
Q; Do you do commercial work?
A; If in doubt, always feel free to ask. Mark is licensed and capable, however this type of work is not the core of our business.
Q; Do you do small projects?
A; Small projects are also not the core of our business, projects worth over $20,000.00 are. We are always happy to help where we can. However, because Mark is licensed, insured and allowed to do the larger projects - we are often on sites for extended periods which means that our wait list is often longer than what someone with a small job would hope for. Please feel free to ask, we would love to help if we can, but if we cant help, that's okay.
Q; How far will you travel?
The guys have traveled far and wide. We have worked in Medowie, Karuah, Glen William, Maitland, Stockton, Newcastle & Nelson Bay. We must also consider our other trades. If the tradies we know and trust cant travel to the areas requested, things can get complicated. We pride ourselves on delivering quality workmanship, and have a team of trusted tradies who we use on our sites.
Q; Can you get us to lockup?
A; Sure, if you're building a home, granny flat, extension or anything else and you would like us to complete a certain stage of it, we can do that. Mark has built many homes from the ground up, so please just let us know what you would like and we will see what we can work out for you.
Q; Can I DIY some of the work and you do the rest.
A; This depends what you are wanting us to do, and what you want to do yourself. Anything that needs to be covered under Marks License needs to be done by Mark. Generally the answer to this is no, simply because we are happy to, but also required to warrant our work and if we don't do the work we cant offer a warranty on it.
